For many more months than most of us have bothered to keep track we have been in what most would call a recession. I have been blessed enough to feel little of this, but have many friends and neighbors who have lost jobs and homes. President Bush got the ball rolling by passing the first stimulus package and then President Obama passed a much more dramatic package sending America into the greatest amount of debt this country has ever seen.

Here is my question to you; is the economy “heading in the right direction” as stated by President Obama, or is it getting worse as the polls and news seem to point? My personal opinion is that with the amount of spending done it can only get worse. The jobs that were created by the stimulus package were very short term and are not enough to sustain any type of growth. I think it should have been left alone by Bush and Obama to work itself out. The first link is a speech that Obama gave regarding the economy approximately a month ago. The links following that are just a fraction of the most recent headlines that show just what direction the economy is really headed.
