Two days ago the Associated Press reported that China’s defense minister Liang Guanglie said that his country’s military has acquired enough sophisticated weapon systems that it is now considered equal to many developed countries in the West. With all the wealth China has been acquiring from making products for the companies in the United States it has been able to, for the past decade, be able to buy many of the latest military hardware. From J-10 fighter jets, the latest tanks, navy destroyers, and cruise and intercontinental ballistic missiles. China is quickly modernizing its forces.

This could come at an inopportune time for the US with President Obama continually weakening our military defenses with lack of funding, not providing much needed aid in current situations, and wanting to scrap important defense commodities such as our nuclear arsenal.  Obama thinks that every nation in the world will follow US lead and do away with their nuclear weapons as well, but with China on the mission to ever improve their defense, that seems quite unrealistic. In fact, Liang said, according to AP, that “the military’s goal is to achieve complete mechanization and computerization by 2020 and produce a fully modern force before mid-century.” Let us pray that in our weakened state that we will be on good terms with China and all other nations with a comparable military.
