An asteroid that was 30 ft across exploded through our atmosphere at about 9-12 miles above sea level at an estimated 45,000 mph on October 8th. It didn’t do any damage because of the height at which it exploded and the size of the asteroid. However, researchers feel that had it been slightly larger it could have caused significant damage on the ground. What has everyone the most shaken is the fact that it was not spotted ahead of time by telescopes. And of course, it is reported that the White House is to develop a policy on the space object impact threat by October of next year. This is in my mind a great example of how the human race as a whole has no control or impact over the world or universe around us.
