Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the same that has said “I hereby accuse the North American empire of being the biggest menace to our planet”, and “The U.S. throws stones to Latin America”, has acquired thousands of missiles from the Russian government to supposedly aid Venezuela in a conflict with Colombia. However, as reported by the Associated Press, Colombia and Washington deny having any plans to attack Venezuela, but Chavez argues they are plotting together a military offensive against Venezuela. He argues that the weapons accumulation is merely a precautionary measure.

With President Chavez’s long history of hate towards the USA, one has to wonder why our supposed friend Russia would provide him with such a weapons cache. And this is just a tip of the iceberg in that which Russia has provided Venezuela and is yet to provide in the future. They have in the past, since 2005, allowed Chavez to purchase 24 Sukhoi fighter jets, dozens of attack helicopters and 100,000 Kalashnikov assault rifles. And soon the Venezuelan President will be also acquiring Russian tanks. The Russian government has given him a $2.2 billion dollar line of credit in which Chavez can use to continue to purchase military arms.

This may be looking too far into it, but could Russia be arming this dictator for their own purposes? It seems like a substantial amount of weaponry for a battle with Colombia. There is no doubt that both have a distaste for the United States of America. Hugo Chavez himself has said, “We must tell the world, down with the U.S. empire.” And then with Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, being an ex-head of the KGB just before the fall of the soviet union calling the shots, who knows what the real intentions of these two countries are really. Here lately Russia has been siding with our enemies around the world more often than not, and like the old saying goes, “actions speak louder than words.”

Just a few articles about Russia siding with U.S. enemies (sometimes they side with the U.S. then turn around and do the opposite, like not wanting to impose further sanctions):

As we all know President Barack Obama has this utopian ideology that he can create a world without nuclear weapons through sitting down and talking with the thug leaders of the countries determined to become a nuclear power. We heard in his speech to the UN about this wishful thinking, all while other powerful world leaders quietly stood by in disbelief at the weakness of the new American President. While giving that address Obama and other UN officials were fully aware of Iran having the hidden nuclear facility that was revealed to the public the following day. But instead of taking advantage of the audience that he had, Obama brushed of the Iranian threat as if it was a third world country trying to create its own clothes line. Obama should have used the timing to rally international support and prepare to take action against Iran and their long history of illegal tactics as soon as possible.

This left world leaders who are accustomed to a strong United States of America perplexed. The America that the world, and all of us, knew was one that would not stand for the rebellious acts of Iran and North Korea. But, trying not to “spoil the image of success” for President Obama, the foreign leaders remained silent at the Summit and tossed the information they had planned to discuss regarding Iran’s latest deceit.

President Sarkozy has been the most vocal about his disapproval of Obama’s foreign policy and handling of the current nuclear crises. In Sarkozy’s remarks which he mockingly called the “dream” of disarmament, he said:

“I support America’s ‘extended hand.’ But what have these proposals for dialogue produced for the international community? Nothing but more enriched uranium and more centrifuges. And last but not least, it has resulted in a statement by Iranian leaders calling for wiping off the map a Member of the United Nations. What are we to do? What conclusions are we to draw? At a certain moment hard facts will force us to make decisions.”

How can it be that the President of France is showing more strength and resolve than the President of the United States? Not to mention this is happening while our leader is off lobbying for the Olympics to be held in Chicago in what seems to be either an effort to ignore the crises at hand or blatant proof of just how far in over his head Obama is with foreign affairs. He even sees fit to “sit down” with the Iranian leader to discuss solutions to their nuclear rebellion. It is an outrage and an embarrassment that our President is conducting himself in this manner, he really needs to get a backbone and fast. It is a sad day when over seas news publishes references to the weakness of America’s leadership; which is what I will leave you with, the words of how we are now seen. As stated in the Telegraph, “Barack Obama’s weakness on the world stage will inevitably lead to the decline of America as a superpower. That’s not “smart power” – it’ is a policy of defeat.”

There is a lot going on in the world today, and that is especially true for the United States of America. On top of an unsteady economy, there are nuclear threats to our allies from Iran, North Korea testing war heads, the world wanting to dump the American dollar, the losing war in Afghanistan, and countless other foreign and domestic issues that require the attention of the US Commander in Chief. But where is our President? Aside from a meeting here and there for what President Obama calls “foreign policy”, he can be found working out, playing 18 holes of golf, enjoying tax funded concerts, hosting tax funded dinners, and as of recently, pulling for the 2016 Olympics to be held in Chicago. I sure am glad he has his priorities straight.

President Obama felt it was necessary to fly to Denmark to lobby for the Olympics in 2016 to be held in the US city of Chicago, elevating this “issue” to a matter of national importance. It is the first time EVER in history that an American President has appeared before the Olympic Committee to bring the games to the country.

I suppose our other international matters are not as pressing. After all, nuclear threats, failing economy, debates in the White House over numerous bills, are not what America needs to focus on at this time. Right? And when you can spend your time and tax payers’ dollars on fun, who wouldn’t take advantage of the down time? You can simply ignore the warnings of a losing war, let other foreign leaders handle the terrorists, and tell the American people things are going great. Oh, and to make yourself look better be sure to get on TV a lot. You know, make advertisements for late night television, hang out with Jay Leno, and appear on every news station to voice your agenda (except for the conservative ones, you wouldn’t want any confrontation).

I think that President Obama is treating his presidency more like a multi-billion dollar company that needs only selective attention rather than a country with a variety of matters. He pays little attention to the issues that do need his immediate attention and blows off the ideas and recommendations of anyone that has conflicting ideas for Obama’s agenda. He has not met with House Republicans since April to review the over 800 amendments they have proposed. He has only spoken with General McChrystal, whom he put in charge of the war in Afghanistan, one time since appointing him even after the warning of losing the war and the request for more troops. Obama treated the G20 Summit like a tree huger convention with a touch of one world planning, and spends a lot of his time relaxing, touring over seas, sight seeing, and lobbying for the Olympics. The only thing I have seen a lot of effort on from the President is his health care reform agenda in which there has been much time spent covering up lies, keeping the people who are for it convinced, and making sure that no one knows that the “other side” has offered many alternatives. I am all for “family night” and a little weekend down time, but Obama seems to do it quite often and not just on the weekends. The election is over Mr. President, it is time to take charge and protect and serve your country as you have promised.
