Many of us consider freedom of speech an absolute right and to be one that we hold dear in the United States of America. That right, given by the first amendment is still allowed, however, it seems to be only when it is aligned with the Obama Administration’s agenda. Here is an article of how the White House tried to exclude Fox News from the press pool on October 22, 2009 as a disciplinary measure for their conservative take on news: http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/10/escalation_white_house_tries_t.asp

And here is a great article from Wall Street Journal on how this is not all about Fox News, it’s about the media as a whole, or in other words, the freedom of press:

Talk about your Chicago politics. What is this, the White House or the basement of a Mafia social club?

UPDATE:

This is a video discussing the White House trying to exclude Fox News. Even the self proclaimed liberal is just astounded by the actions of the Obama administration towards this news agency.

We hear little on the news now of the declining economy here in the United States, in fact, we hear that the Stimulus has gone as planned. We hear that the economy is slowly picking up again and that consumer spending is growing. But how can this be when the jobs are being lost at record rates, homes are still being lost, and government is still trying to “spend” it’s way out of a recession? It’s not true, that’s how. And the whole world can see it, and they can see that the tactics of the Obama administration are only making matters worse.

Obama economist jokes: Strategy is communism

I have been watching the media circus surrounding the “You lie!” remarks made by Rep. Joe Wilson during President Obama’s health care speech. The outburst came right after Obama had said that the health care reform would not cover illegal aliens. Then Joe spoke for all of us who know the truth. If only all of our Republican party members had the guts to speak out like him then the liberals would not have been able to push their way into our government so easily. My one and only problem with what Wilson said is that he later apologized. There should be no apologies for calling out a blatant lie. The bill does not include coverage for illegal immigrants, however, it does leave plenty of room for loop holes. In fact, one of the health care bills approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee called H.R. 3200 leaves more than enough room for coverage of illegal immigrants. As reported by the Washington Examiner, the Congressional Research Service said this about H.R. 3200;

“Under H.R. 3200, a ‘Health Insurance Exchange’ would begin operation in 2013 and would offer private plans alongside a public option…H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens—whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently—participating in the Exchange.”

So, Mr. Joe Wilson was just calling it like he sees it. And this is not the only “loop hole” that has been swept under the rug either. House Democrats and Obama have been hiding much more as well. We need to support those we have elected in office that actually have the courage to stand alone and speak out against the true lies.

It really amuses me, however, that everyone is making such a fuss over what Rep. Joe Wilson said. Where were these politicians demanding a formal apology (once is more than enough) from Joe when Harry Reid called President Bush a liar and a loser? Or what about the Democrats booing Bush during the 2005 State of the Union address? I never saw ANY of those Democrats apologize formally or informally. I never saw the media jump all over them for their rudeness. And I never heard of the possibility of them facing any sort of punishment what so ever. Like I have said before, the Democrats and liberals can dish it out but they can’t take it.

No real matter though. This really has not hurt Joe in any way. If anything it has dramatically helped him (that has got to be really making the dems boiling angry). Ever since the “You lie” comment he has raised over $700,000. This goes to show that we do not want someone in any office to shyly sit by while someone, even the President, stomps all over the people with their smooth spoken lies to forward their agenda. Obama continually chooses wording when speaking to the media to manipulate the people. He even had the audacity to “fib” again after the health care speech, according to the Boston Globe which stated:

“In his 60 Minutes interview, Obama also acknowledged he has nearly given up working out a deal on health care with all but a few Republicans, the majority of whom he said were interested only in using the issue to restore their party to power.”

As stated in a previous post on my blog, this is an outright lie too. The GOP has given hundreds of amendments and options for health care, all of which have been completely ignored and rejected by the President and the House. In conclusion, I give Rep. Joe Wilson two thumbs way up for standing tall and saying what we are all thinking. No more apologies!

UPDATE 09/16/09:

I don’t know what disgusts me more, the fact that the House spent all day on this ridiculous matter wasting time and taxpayer’s dollars or that Jimmy Carter played the race card. This is not the kind of politician we need in Washington. Those who voted “yes” are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites that manipulate situations to get the support of unsuspecting citizens. You can clearly see the party lines in this vote. Here is an article about it first, and the second shows who voted yes and no.

I am proud of the response we have received in the recent weeks from the government. We, those of a conservative mind set, have been speaking out and making it well known what we will and will not stand for recently. And it seems to have had some effect. At least on the topics of Van Jones’ resignation and the presidential school speech. Having visited the www.ed.gov website frequently in the past weeks I had noticed the wording of the activities, questions, and the speech itself changed numerous times. This had caused great concern among conservative parents that there maybe indoctrination included in the speech given to the school children by our President. After all, with the brief but controversial past of President Obama and his administration it is our right to question what would possibly be next.

Of course, there had to be a tidbit about the environment in there as all public education does, as Obama said, “You’ll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment.” And naturally to keep it politically correct, we have to throw in some statements about discrimination and fairness. But all in all, the revised and finished product was one in which I do not have a problem. In fact, I have a favorite quote from the speech. It is, “if you quit on school — you’re not just quitting on yourself, you’re quitting on your country.”

I also liked how he ended it with “God bless you. God bless America.” We all know that if a republican president had said those words the liberals would be all over it screaming “separation between church and state.” But that wouldn’t be good for supporting their choice in presidency, so we won’t be hearing any of that this time. Unlike when President George H.W. Bush gave his school speech and the democrats went crazy with investigations, hearings, accusations, and being denounced by the National Education Association itself.  Yes, we have heard, “You won’t be saying this if it was a republican president.” No, probably not so much, but you (the left) would. Check out this article from The Washington Examiner, When Bush Spoke To Students, Democrats investigated, held hearings, it explains the great lengths the opposition went to denounce President George H.W. Bush’s very similar speech.

I think we can take this two ways. One, is what I mentioned earlier, a victory in having shaped the change in what could have quite possibly been indoctrination (due to the many changes to the curriculum and speech I think it may have been). The second, is to watch for possible future speeches to the youth that may have indoctrination. We can’t let our guard down if there is a second or third speech. We must always be informed as to what is being presented to our children.

Is debilitating or lethal side effects in every 1 out of 100,000 a small enough number to make you feel safe getting the “swine flu” vaccination? Does the possibility of 30,000 Americans dying from a vaccination in which they hoped would protect them sound justifiable? These are questions that are becoming very personal to each and every informed person in the world. At what point do we see the benefits out weighing the risks? The H1N1 mortality rate is about 2.3%. And the vaccination mortality rate is yet to be determined. It has not been out long enough to really know. But it has been assumed by the CDC that 30,000 Americans will die from the vaccination and that is possibly a low estimate. So, like I said, it is a very personal question as to what you consider the safer option for you and your family. The risk of getting the swine flu in which only 2.3% could die from, or the risk of getting the vaccination with the possibility of 1 (or more) in 100,000 suffering debilitating or lethal side effects.

The reason I feel that we are getting conflicting information from the CDC, WHO, and everywhere else is that here we have information like that contained in the first article below about the risks of the vaccination. And then we have everything else around us saying how great the vaccination is and how everyone is urged to receive it. This is even though we hear yet more conflicting information from people such as Doctor George Hossfeld of the University of Illinois hospital, who stated to the Chicago Flame, “I’ve seen Swine Flu Epidemic #1 (1976, under President Gerald Ford) and Swine Flu Epidemic #2 (2009, under President Barak Obama). Both times America spent billions of dollars and killed more people with the treatments than the disease.”

I suppose we will just keep watching as this evolves to see what the possible side effects really turn out to be and to see if the H1N1 virus really becomes as big of a threat as we have been lead to believe. In the mean time, look for signs of the virus in your area becoming more wide spread and simply avoid contact with large crowds, wash hands frequently, and if you feel it becomes necessary, wear masks.

Mark Lloyd, the newly appointed chief diversity officer at the Federal Communications Commission has an interesting stance on freedom of speech indeed. Although Mark Lloyd has stated that he finds the Fairness Doctrine unnecessary, his comments and previous speeches and writings prove that he does in fact support the overall goals of the Fairness Doctrine though be it through a back door method. Mark Lloyd does in fact support more regulation, more taxes and fines, increased government intervention into the commercial media such as public radio, and more in which he believes asserts diversity. Such as in the Center for America Progress proposal co-authored by Mark Lloyd which said:

“. . . a spectrum use fee should be levied on owners to directly support local, regional, and national public broadcasting. A fee based on a sliding scale (1 percent for small markets, 5 percent for the largest markets) would be distributed directly to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting with clear mandates to support local news and public affairs programming and to cover controversial and political issues in a fair and balanced manner. We estimate that such a fee would net between $100 million and $250 million.”

Mark Lloyd’s more popular public stance is one in which he praises Hugo Chavez. He praises the way that he took over the media and controlled what was once ran by the people of his nation. Lloyd calls Chavez “incredible” and “dramatic.” So, I guess Mark Lloyd is saying he approves of Hugo Chavez forcing private media out of business? It would appear that way. He has made his opinions very clear and even put them into writing as recently as 2006 in his book Prologue to a Farce: Communication and Democracy in America. In that book Lloyd reveals his opinion of the First Amendment (our freedom of speech) by stating this:

“It should be clear by now that my focus here is not freedom of speech or the press. This freedom is all too often an exaggeration. At the very least blind references to freedom of speech or press serves as a distraction from the critical examination of other communication policies. The purpose of free speech is warped to protect global corporations and block rules [by the government], fines, and regulations, that would promote democratic governance.”

Unbelievable! You see, not only does he not hold freedom of speech in any high esteem, but he seeks to do away with it to promote democratic governance. This should alarm you no matter who you are. This isn’t a matter of bipartisanship, it is a matter of telling you what to think. It is a matter of telling you what you can and cannot know. It is EXACTLY the same thing that Hugo Chavez has done in Venezuela, the same that Mark Lloyd has praised.

Now, I hate to be the barer of bad news, but this is yet another communist “czar” being put in the White House. Is there anyone else who thinks this is just a little suspicious that all these people being put in are fans of socialism or communism? There are more; John Holdren, Van Jones, and Mark Lloyd are just a couple that I have touched on. I have a great deal of concern for the future of our ability to voice our opinions. I have a great deal of concern for the future of our freedom as a whole. Media has such a big way of reaching out and forming community with others, no matter what your political opinion is, it should never be silenced.

The Boycott On Beck Is Backfiring

Of course it is! Glenn Beck does a great job on his commentary on politics and news. But that is what it is, commentary. And commentary is an opinion, opinion is part of free speech, and (as far as I know or I’m in big trouble) freedom of speech is still allowed in America. There have been many far worse things said about President Bush by popular leftist media speakers in the past and they were not completely ostracized and dragged through the mud the way Beck has been.

Proof Obama Participated In Socialist Party

I can’t say that I am surprised. Anyone who bothered to educate themselves by looking at his past voting record prior to the presidential election could see that he had a socialist agenda. Now, here is an article posted in WorldNetDaily.com that shows print copies of Obama’s picture and name as a member of “The New Party”, a known socialist group.

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=107731

This is interesting. After nearly a year or more of nothing but hearing the media sing Obama’s praises suddenly the tune is different? I suppose that all those who blindly voted for the President are now realizing that it may not have been such a good choice after all. Had they taken the time to look at the once most liberal voting democratic senator in office voting record, perhaps this would have been avoided altogether. The constant empty promises and mindless chants spewed at the rallies held by Obama and his supporters are now showing for what they are. Now, that over the weekend, the President let it be known that the “public option” may not be so after all. This is not the first, only, or the last broken promise.

This opinion is based on the following article:
